KBI Ad-Hoc Reporting
In addition to providing best practice reports and Advanced Search capabilities, KBI also gives all users the freedom and flexibility to customize and create their own reports to fit their precise occupational needs. Users can utilize this feature to create specialized reports in multiple functional areas that meet the unique reporting requirements of any business.
KBI’s ad-hoc offering, Report Builder, is an application deployed via the browser that allows business users to create their own reports using a user-friendly model of their data. Users create and edit reports through a user interface that is built on top of familiar Microsoft Office paradigms such as Excel and PowerPoint.
Users start by selecting report layout templates containing pre-defined data sections such as tables, matrices and charts. They drag and drop report items from the model to the design surface and set constraints to filter the report data. The model contains all of the necessary information for the Report Builder to automatically generate the source query and retrieve the requested data.
The Report Builder also enables users to:
- Add text and formatting to reports
- Create newly defined fields and calculations
- Consume all functionality of Managed Reports, including paging, zooming, printing,
and exporting to multiple formats - Preview and publish reports to the KBI "My Reports" areas
KBACE Business Models for Report Builder
Each module of KBI delivers report models that provide a business layer on top of the underlying data. The models aid users in navigating and selecting the desired information from the underlying data source. Model elements can be secured so that users only see data they have permissions to view.
Report models include:
- Business names for database fields and tables
- Defined relationships between items in the data source
- Logical groupings of model items
